Oooh! That looks delicious!

The crock pot recipe looks amazing...did you put in the corn starch?

Alice: I bet it tastes even more delicious! Kristen, it sure does. As for the recipe, it isn't mine, just gathered it from Pinterest; however, when I do make this dish, I would put in the cornstarch, because it thickens the sauce a little. But, it just depends on personal preference of consistency.

The spread here looks amazing. I actually just picked up a 10-pound bag of Basmati the other day and I always try to have the rest of those ingredients on hand, so that rice recipe will probably be made sometime in the very near future. The curry looks really good...but also looks like it leans a little towards a Thai curry (Indian curries usually don't use coconut milk...except for in the south..I think). It still seems like it would be really tasty though and also its probably much more visually appealing on Pinterest than a traditional Indian curry would be (as much as I love Indian curries, they just never look that aesthetically pleasing to me).

Also, on a side note...gulab jamun was my favorite Indian sweet growing up...so good choice!

Asif, I need to do the same (pick up some Basmati rice)--it seems like a practical thing to have around. The curry does look delicious; and, you're right, it does seem to resemble a Thai recipe, because of the coconut milk. Either way, it has my name all over it. Considering that you and Lauren will be leaving for India soon, perhaps you could do a guest post of food you come across while over seas? I would love to see which foods are actually eaten by the locals. And, I couldn't agree more with you on the gulab jamun. I could eat that all day.

I'd be happy to contribute while we're over there. Usually my trips to India result in about a thousand or so pictures; I'll make sure to take plenty of pictures of the food too. Also, if you're planning on getting some Basmati to keep handy, definitely go to your local Indian grocer rather than the supermarket. It will be much cheaper, although you may be committing yourself to at least a 10-pound bag of rice (as I've rarely seen bags smaller than that at a local grocer). At the very least, you might be able to find some great stuff you wouldn't get at a supermarket.

About

I'm just a girl who loves food, drink, and sharing what tastes right. Some people say I think about food as often as guys are said to think about.... Well, you get the picture. Very seldom am I able to stick to a recipe. If I use someone else's, keep your eyes peeled for some of my own tweaks. I have a sweet tooth, and I like my butter. If I feel so inclined, I'll add a little extra something.

My furry-faced fiance, T.C., will give ratings (e.g., 4 out of 5 beards, or "stars") for each dish.

Feel free to experiment with me. "Re-learn to taste."
